Chapter 12

“Why are you so eager to get rid of me? What have I done to make you hate me so much? Besides, I doubt you have the nerve to tell him.” A heatwave shot through my body once more. If my dad found out, there was no way I’d be able to lie to him. Would he believe Lianne over me? It would seem unfair since I was his daughter. His flesh and blood. I don’t know why I came second to her sometimes, or I should say third, since his job came first.
“Because you’re a worthless piece of shit, Scarlet. You’re a bitch to all of your friends, which I’m surprised you have any at all. I know how you treat them at school and how you ridicule other girls. And who knows? Maybe your father will be looking out the window one night when you’re supposed to be in bed,” Lianne said with a devious smirk.
“And I wonder who would tell him to do that?”
My wicked stepmom sipped her coffee, her eyes peering over the top of the mug at me. I wished she’d get hit by a car and die. Then I’d be done with her, and it would be just my father and me like it should be. Wishful thinking, I know.
